English Lavender

Lavender is one of the few perennials whose scent sells itself, just brush past it and you will catch it. It wants full sun and, above all, well-drained soil; in wet or shaded spots it struggles and can rot over winter. We plant it in lighter, sandier soil, sometimes with added gravel. After planting, give it enough room to spread, ideally 40 to 50 centimeters between plants. We trim it back in spring to keep a compact shape, so it does not get woody and keeps its nice rounded form even after a few years.
